Confined Space Entry Services
Certified, OSHA-Compliant Confined Space Entry for Water and Wastewater Facilities
At Streamborn Environmental, safety is our top priority—especially when it comes to confined space entry. Our team maintains the highest level of OSHA-approved certification for confined space work, ensuring that every entry, inspection, cleaning, or maintenance task is performed with the utmost care and compliance.
What Is a Confined Space?
A confined space is defined by OSHA as an area that:
- Is large enough for an employee to enter and perform assigned work
- Has limited or restricted means for entry or exit (such as tanks, vessels, silos, storage bins, hoppers, vaults, pits, manholes, and sumps)
- Is not designed for continuous occupancy
Confined spaces often have natural ventilation that may not reduce contaminants below safe levels, and may present hazards such as toxic atmospheres, engulfment risks, or asphyxiation.
Permit-Required vs. Non-Permit Confined Spaces
- Permit-Required Confined Spaces have one or more hazards, such as a hazardous atmosphere, engulfment risk, inwardly converging walls, or other recognized safety or health hazards. Entry into these spaces requires a written permit, atmospheric monitoring, and a comprehensive safety plan.
- Non-Permit Confined Spaces do not contain or have the potential to contain hazards capable of causing death or serious physical harm. Each entry is carefully evaluated to determine the correct classification and safety measures.
Our Confined Space Services Include:
- Entry, Inspection, and Cleaning: For underground grease traps, storage tanks, interceptors, manholes, sump pits, pipelines, lift stations, and more.
- Comprehensive Safety Protocols: All entries are performed in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146, including continuous atmospheric monitoring, ventilation, communication, and emergency rescue planning.
- Highly Trained Personnel: Our team includes authorized entrants, attendants, entry supervisors, and rescue-trained staff, all with up-to-date OSHA training and recertification.
- State-of-the-Art Equipment: We deploy the latest confined space entry vans, retrieval systems (tripods, winches, harnesses), atmospheric gas monitors, and ventilation units to ensure worker safety and regulatory compliance.
- Hazard Assessment & Control: Every entry is preceded by a thorough hazard assessment and the implementation of lockout/tagout, isolation, and other required controls.
- Emergency Response: Standby rescue services and rapid response capabilities for high-risk or permit-required entries.
